Valence

Roman and medieval city ...

Valence is situated between the Drôme and the Ardèche, on the banks of the Rhône. This ideally located lively town of the Rhône-Alpes has a rich past as it was a Roman town before becoming a wealthy medieval town. From this medieval period and from the Renaissance, the town still counts an exceptional number of buildings, such as the Maison des Têtes with its Gothic facade and the Romanesque cathedral of Saint Apollinaire.

While strolling around in Valence you can discover this heritage along the canals and through the gardens.
